About this Site & Security issues

This site is built and maintained using Frontpage 2003.  It has been redesigned to work effectively with Internet Explorer 7.  External features like two of the hit counters, the forum and one questionnaire use the free services of bravenet.com (hence why some pages carry advertising).  We do not store sensitive data - like addresses and telephone numbers on the web server, we do not share any personal information with anyone except other members of the Action Group Committee.  If at any time you wish to unsubscribe from the newsletters etc... simply send a note to unsubscribe@pmparents.co.uk and all your details will be removed from our mailing list.

We do monitor site usage and as part of that can spot certain problems on your machines.  A couple of visitors are affected by a piece of Adware call FunWebProducts - this is installed if you have downloaded things like smiley faces from certain web sites.  The effect of this is to increase the number of advertising products appearing on pop ups.  To see if your web browser is affected cut and paste the following into the navigation bar on your web browser:

javascript:alert(navigator.userAgent)

you will get a message box coming up in the middle of the screen

if that contains the word FunWebProducts (a example is show below) then you have the problem.

"Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows NT 5.0; FunWebProducts)".

To remove the offending code follow the instructions at:

http://www.liamdelahunty.com/tips/fun_web_products.php

Be aware, this is not a virus and has been around for sometime - however, it will slow down your internet browsing and make you are target for even more advertising.  My advice is to ensure that you have  UPTODATE virus scanner, firewall, anti spam and anti malware software installed on all your workstations at home - these are available as complete suites of software or individual products - it is important to keep them up to date with the latest definitions and scan regularly - prices range from free to as much as you want to spend.
