From/For the
Old Girls
I was at PM from 55 to 62 when I went
to Westonbirt and then back to PM from 66 to 68 as I had been ill. Just got my
Westonbirt Association news and it is full of news of 80 year olds paragliding
and 30 somethings coping with kids and jobs. WE NEED SOMETHING SIMILAR FOR PM. I
think it is important some sort of structure is put on the OGA, which should
probably now become something like the Parsons Mead Association, so includes
staff and anyone else with a PM interest. Westonbirt (and Downe House, where my
daughter went) have active OGAs because the workload is shared. In both cases
they have a year group rep (and in DH case a house rep for each year in the more
recent years) These reps rotate, so don't have the job forever and are
responsible for getting news from their year group and forwarding to a centre
point for publishing.
Is this a model for us? Please let me know your interest soonest. If there is
enthusiasm we could:
- Set a meeting date for mid/late September
- Create a committee/working group to decide how we are to operat
I really do feel we need to get something going so that in the years ahead there
will be a group that has memories of PM and can support each other. Friends
Reunited is a useful resource, but shouldn't we make the effort to have
something more personal and centralised?
Back to my latest Westonbirt news which contains some happy news and some rather
sad, but you get a sense that there is friendship and support there and a real
enjoyment in keeping in touch. Surely we need the same for PM??
