The Next Steps

The Parsons Mead Action Group committee have now had a chance to consider the findings of the Charity Commission and met on November 21st to plan a way forward.

As had been pointed out on several occasions at the larger group meetings the Charity Commission is not the most powerful of organisations and there was no great hope of them putting sanctions on the Parsons Mead Trust, however, the report left nearly as many questions open as it answered.  Objecting to the actions of the Trust to the Charity Commission was a necessary step.

We have now developed the next steps in our campaign.

The pending litigation that was held on advice from solicitors until after the response from the Charity Commission will now be restarted.  This action will be through contract law rather than trust law.

We have opened a further dialogue with the Charity Commission.  We understand that the merger of PMET and VET will not now be taking place, instead a simple transfer of assets could occur from PMET to VET.  The dialogue is ongoing at this time.

Other activities planned include talking to our MP, Chris Grayling,  and approaches to certain professional bodies to review the activities of their members in the run up to the closure.

We will certainly need some funding towards the cost of legal advice so please consider donating something to the group.  Details of how to donate are on the website

We hope that things will have advanced sufficiently for us to be able to report back to you at a meeting sometime in the first half of the spring term.
